New Software Sections Added

Due to an increase in the number of coupon codes and deals for popular branded software titles and software companies, we have added some new software-related categories under our Computer & Software department at Shopping-Bargains.com. This move divided our existing generic “software” category into smaller sections to better serve the shopping preferences of software consumers.

Since some people prefer to download their software and use it immediately, we added a Software Downloads sub-department to cater to this growing trend. Another advantage of downloading software is you don’t pay shipping charges! Many top software titles from Symantec, PC Tools and Computer Associates, for example, are now commonly sold direct via download.

Other shoppers prefer traditional boxed software or, for one reason or another, need a physical installation and/or archive CD. With that in mind, we created a Boxed Software sub-department to address these needs. This category also includes stores that sell boxed and bundled software packages — some also offer educational discounts for students and teachers.

There is some overlap between these two software categories. For example, some downloadable software titles can be purchased along with a backup CD and vice versa.

In a related move, we also created a Web Safety sub-department to focus on the broad range of Internet safety solutions. This section is for listing a variety of software and service providers specializing in safeguarding online privacy and providing protection from pornography and other negative content (including content filters designed specifically for protecting children and the workplace). Software tools that guard against spyware, malicious bots, adware, hackers, popups and other threats are also included in this new section.
