Shopping-Bargains.com is one of four sponsors for a team of students from the Starkville Christian Home Educators (SCHE) who will be participating in the BEST Robotics competition held at Mississippi State University this year. The mission of BEST Robotics is to “inspire students to pursue careers in engineering, science, technology, and math through participation in a sports-like science- and engineering-based robotics competition.”

There will be 11 teams from Mississippi, Alabama, and Louisiana competing. Each team of students in this competition was provided four motors along with building materials such as plywood, Plexiglas, PVC pipes, nuts and bolts, sheet metal and other miscellaneous hardware and challenged to build a robot capable of performing specific tasks via remote control.

The SCHE Team has been preparing for this competition for many weeks and on Saturday, October 20th, they will compete. The competition’s theme is a Mars mission and the robot’s simulated objective is to move supplies from a landing site to a Martian colony.
